VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is a technology that allows voice communications through the Internet. Small and medium businesses, even large corporations, are now turning to VoIP for their business communications. This is because VoIP has a lot of advantages to it. Here are some of the perks a business can enjoy once they switch to VoIP:
• More affordable phone calls. Calling through the Internet means that area code is disregarded. Compared to traditional phone lines, VoIP calling would give significant savings to its users. Some providers even give unlimited calls to anywhere within the US and Canada.
• A more unified communications system. VoIP services usually come with features such as extensions, call management functions, Internet fax and voicemail. All of these features let you have a single communications control center which you can access through the Internet.
• Mobility. Your VoIP number is portable to anywhere that there is an Internet connection. It is not limited by physical distance or any area code, although your VoIP number can be a local number which has an area code associated to a certain location. This ability gives you more freedom to take your calls wherever you go, even outside of the country.
